The Hale family in Utah was established by Alma Helaman Hale (1836-1908), a pioneer settler of Grantsville, Utah. Hale married Sarah Elizabeth Walker in 1856, and together they had three children. After his wife's death in 1861 he remarried, taking two wives -- Sarah Annie Clark and Ellen Victoria Clark -- in 1861 and 1865. These marriages resulted in a total of eighteen children.
